Equality nurtures the improvisations of the quartet, sounds and textures evolveand the boundaries between improvisation and composition are kept open.Es knarzt im Gebälk. Das Holz lebt. Das Leben holzt. Klonk! Klonk are winner of the DLF studio-award at the young german jazz competition in 2011.

END THINGS

an exhibition by Silas Parry

Pop up event

saturday 16th to 23th November

The processes of life, half-remembered and fading. The natural world mimicking echoes of long-ceased industrial mechanics.

Jerky, half-conscious automatons, trying to scavenge a future from sad and finished history.

Silas Parry is an artist from Scotland, currently working in Berlin. When living in the North of England he worked with analogue sound to create large-scale interactive and immersive sound installations. These mechanical and audio processes had an intrinsic affect in the development of his sculptural practice.

He works with objects that have lost their original purpose, using mechanised movement and sound to give objects life. This is to re-invest the forgotten and lifeless with a new and re-imagined identity.

He views these kinetic and audio creations as autonomous in their own right. The sound-scape at the core of each piece comes not from the artist but from the creatures themselves, from the vibrations and variances inherent in their own movement.
